What to look for
Three numbers
worth checking.
Households
Mail goes to addresses, so household count sets your cost.
Home ownership
Renters rarely approve roofing, HVAC, windows, or landscaping. For home services, a high share of owners matters more than income.
Home value
A useful guide to what owners are willing to spend on their homes.
About the fit score
This is our own score, not Census data. It weighs household count, home ownership, density, and how well local income matches your job value. Use it to compare areas, not to predict response.
Questions
About this data
Where does the data come from?
The U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey, 2019-2023 five-year estimates, for 32,828 ZIP code areas. Household counts, income, home values, and home ownership are published Census figures. Route counts and the fit score are our estimates.
Are these the same as ZIP codes?
Very close. The Census Bureau publishes data for ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, which are drawn to match ZIP codes. Boundaries can differ slightly from actual mail delivery.
How accurate are the route counts?
They are estimates based on about 450 homes per route. Real routes vary, so we confirm exact counts from USPS before any order.
Why is income missing for some ZIP codes?
The Census Bureau does not publish estimates when the sample is too small. That affects about 7% of ZIP codes, mostly rural ones. Household counts are still shown.
