What it takes to break even

A mailing to 5,000 homes costs about $2,360 with everything included. On a $450 job with $225 in profit, 11 booked jobs cover it. The calculator runs this with your own numbers.

EDDM has the lowest cost per home of any way to reach a full neighborhood. The tradeoff is that every home on a route gets the piece, so it works best when most homes nearby could hire you.

Questions

Common questions

How much does EDDM cost?

USPS postage is $0.260 per piece. With printing, prep, and design included, a mailing to 5,000 to 10,000 homes costs about 39 to 47 cents per home. The calculator shows your exact number.

What response rate should I expect?

We plan campaigns around 0.5% to 1%, which is 5 to 10 responses per 1,000 homes. Higher numbers you may see published often come from mailing past customers, not whole neighborhoods.

Why mail the same area more than once?

People are more likely to call a name they have seen before. Plan on at least three mailings to the same area before judging results.
